Dear Bryan University community,
It has been disheartening to hear about the acts of hatred and violence in our country. Let me be clear as to our position at Bryan University: social justice and equality for all. There can be no room for racial hatred and discrimination in our country and community. We are human beings committed to embracing our differences, supporting an environment of inclusion, and practicing empathy for one another. I am very proud that BU represents a diverse and inclusive community of employees and students, as this is our core.
Racism and inequality can take on many forms. At Bryan, it is our pursuit, privilege, and responsibility to continue to eradicate racism and inequality in learning and human development. There is an undeniable relationship between economic inequalities and education inequalities. This is why we carefully selected the words in our very public mission and vision statements to ensure the entire organization actively participates in making learning inclusive and equitable, thereby enabling learners to successfully pursue their purpose and goals.
We are not perfect, but together, we will continue to invest in technology, people, and processes as we offer learning opportunities blind to zip code and help lift individuals and communities wherever they live in the world.
Let us stand behind the message of one of the greatest leaders in history, Martin Luther King Jr., “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
Sincerely,
Eric Evans, President
